I know how you feel! I'd been cultivating two heirloom "Mr. Stripey" tomatoes and one day my dog Lydia decided they'd be a tasty snack. I wanted to kill her...
Doesn't that get your goat??
I tried to grow some heirloom toms in my kitchen window last year, but every time it bloomed, my cats would eat the flowers. Sigh.
